Description of Duties:

Position Title: Junior Systems Administrator

Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO or Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL

Relocation Assistance: None available at this time

Remote/Telework: NO - Not available for this position

Clearance Type: DoD Secret

Shift: Day shift

Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time

The Junior Systems Administrator  supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:

· Perform system administration duties on Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) suite of applications.

· Support systems engineering, maintenance, and operations of cyber capabilities

· Assist in troubleshooting of hardware, software, and capability of the DCO suite of applications.

· Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.

· Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures.

· Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.

· Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.

· Manage system/server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.

· Monitor and maintain system/server configuration.

· Perform repairs on faulty system/server hardware.

· Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.

· Install, update, and troubleshoot systems/servers.

· Patch network vulnerabilities to ensure information is safeguarded against outside parties. 

The successful candidate will have:

· Knowledge of principles and methods for integrating system components.

· Knowledge of systems administration concepts.

· Knowledge of virtualization technologies and virtual machine development and maintenance.

· Knowledge of organizational information technology (IT) user security policies (e.g., account creation, password rules, access control).

· Knowledge of basic system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques.

· Knowledge of national and international laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity.

· Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.

· Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.

· Knowledge of specific operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses.

· Knowledge of common network tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, nslookup).

· Knowledge of cloud computing service models Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS).

· Knowledge of cloud computing deployment models in private, public, and hybrid environments and the difference between on-premises and off-premises environments.

· Be willing to support troubleshooting for shift workers in a 24x7 operational environment and respond quickly to emergencies as needed.

· Be willing to support a rotating on-call schedule.

· Be able to multi-task and prioritize various projects and assignments in a dynamic work environment to meet scheduled/unscheduled customer requests.

Qualifications - External

Basic Requirements:

· Must have 2, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience

o May be reduced with completion of advanced education

· Must have 6 months, or more, of directly related experience

· Must have a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification with Continuing Education (CE) - (CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)

· Must have, or obtain, an active DoD 8570.01-M CSSP Infrastructure Support certification with Continuing Education (CE) - (CEH, CySA+, GICSP, SSCP, CHFI, CFR, Cloud+, CND)

· Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

· Must be able to obtain an active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance 

Desired Requirements:

· Have experience with Linux system administration in a DoD environment

· Have Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) experience

· Have experience with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) is highly desirable.

· Have Server Management experience, including deployment, backups, snapshots 

This position is expected to pay $90,000 - $115,000  annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
