DIS is seeking a Chief Medical Therapeutic Physicist to support the operations of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Pittsburgh, PA

The ideal candidate will have a desire and ambition to provide the best-in-class service and support for Veterans and DIS team members.

Essential Duties:

• Provide onsite diagnostic and interventional radiology services across multiple subspecialties, including:
• Abdominal/GU Imaging
• Breast Imaging (including ACR-accredited Mammography)
• Cardiovascular Imaging
• General Radiology
• Interventional Radiology
• Musculoskeletal Imaging
• Neuroradiology
• Interpret imaging studies and perform procedures in accordance with American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines and VA standards.
• Collaborate with referring physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support accurate diagnoses and effective treatment planning.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all imaging interpretations and procedures in the VA’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
• Participate in quality assurance, peer review, and continuing education activities to maintain clinical excellence and compliance.
• Maintain compliance with all VA policies, mandatory training, and  credentialing/privileging requirements as outlined in VHA Directives 1100.20 and 1100.21.
• Uphold the highest standards of patient care, safety, and confidentiality in all radiologic services provided.

Qualifications – Chief Medical Physicist

Candidates must meet the following qualifications to be eligible for this position:

Licensure

• Must hold a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice in at least one U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
• Individuals with any history of license restriction, suspension, revocation, voluntary surrender, or denial will not be considered.

Board Certification

• Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
• Must maintain certification through ongoing education and submit documentation annually to the VA Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).

Credentialing and Privileging

• Must be approved by the Facility Medical Executive Board and Medical Center Director prior to providing services.

Continuing Education

• Must maintain Continuing Medical Education (CME) or Certified Education Units (CEU) as required by national medical associations.
• CME documentation must be submitted to the COR and credentials office for tracking and re-privileging.

Mandatory Training

Completion of the following VA-mandated training is required annually:

• ACLS/BLS – 8 hours
• EHR, Government Ethics, Patient Safety, Suicide Prevention, HIPAA, and others – 1 hour each
• Additional training as required by the VA

National Provider Identifier (NPI)

• Must possess or obtain a valid NPI and, if applicable, a Taxonomy Code from CMS. Documentation must be submitted with the proposal.

Physical

• Frequently required to sit and work at a desk/computer for extended periods of time of up to 8 hours a day.
• While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.
• Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Cognitive

• Ability to learn new tasks.
• Ability to maintain focus and complete tasks independently.
• Ability to remember processes.
• Ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
