Director, Air, Car & Rail Partnerships
Pleasant Holidays, one of the largest travel wholesalers in the United States specializing in vacation travel to the Hawaiian Islands, Caribbean, Central America, Europe, Mexico, Middle East, South Pacific (Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand & Tahiti), Japan, the United States & Canada, and cruise vacations worldwide, is seeking a Director, Air, Car & Rail Partnerships .
Pleasant Holidays is a subsidiary of the Automobile Club of Southern California, a diversified insurance, roadside assistance, financial services, and travel organization serving more than 21 million AAA Members across 23 states.
Position Summary:
The Director of Air, Car & Rail Partnerships is responsible for managing all relationships and contracts with airline, car rental, and rail suppliers in support of Pleasant Holidays leisure travel business. This role negotiates agreements, ensures contractual compliance, and manages partner performance with an emphasis on customer service excellence and long-term partnership success.
The position works closely with Operations leadership to align supplier agreements with operational requirements, scheduling, fare structures, and service standards, ensuring our travel products deliver exceptional value and reliability for customers.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead the development of Pleasant Holidays air, car and rail strategy, focusing on partner negotiations, agreement execution, and long-term collaboration.
Manage all carrier agreements across brand portfolios, ensuring alignment with business goals and competitive positioning.
Represent the company in high-level partner discussions, negotiations, and industry events, fostering strong relationships built on mutual success.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual obligations related to air and rail operations.
Partner with Operations to ensure supplier agreements support operational delivery, itinerary requirements, and customer satisfaction goals.
Monitor supplier performance, contractual adherence, and service quality, resolving escalations quickly to protect the traveler experience.
Engage in cross-functional collaboration to maximize the value of negotiated terms for package competitiveness, yield, and service enhancements.
Remain informed about industry trends, competitor movements, and regulatory developments to anticipate and respond to market changes.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree is preferred in business, travel, or a related field.
57 years of progressive experience in airline, car and rail negotiations and contracting within a tour operator, consolidator, or airline.
Strong expertise with various GDS systems (Apollo required) and airline pricing/fare structures.
Demonstrated ability to deliver both results and partnership excellence in managing airline and rail partnerships.
Excellent negotiation, relationship management, communication, and analytical skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and external partners.

Compensation: The starting pay range for this position is $78,000 - $98,000 annually. Additionally, you will be eligible to participate in our management incentive program based upon the achievement of certain corporate financial and personal business goals and objectives for Pleasant Holidays.
