The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital, including patient care areas, offices, and ancillary spaces. This role plays a critical part in upholding hospital cleanliness standards, infection control, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ensure a sanitary and orderly environment in patient rooms, offices, hallways, and ancillary areas.
2. Clean and disinfect precaution/isolation rooms following infection control protocols.
3. Maintain Environmental Services carts, equipment, and closets in a clean and organized manner.
4. Remove empty boxes, trash, soiled linens, and biohazard materials to designated disposal areas.
5. Properly dispose of needle containers, glove boxes, and soiled medical equipment.
6. Replenish supplies (paper products, hand soap, sanitizer) throughout hospital units.
7. Respond promptly to service requests via phone, text, or internal communication apps.
8. Attend mandatory departmental trainings and follow all safety protocols.
9. Identify and report maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisor.
10. Interact respectfully and professionally with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
11. Follow strict procedures for infection prevention and workplace safety.
12. Demonstrate a positive, professional, and cooperative work attitude at all times.

Required Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or GED (required)
2. Minimum of 2 years of cleaning experience, ideally in a high-traffic or regulated environment
3. Operating Room (OR) cleaning experience in a hospital setting (required)
4. Ability to follow infection control and safety protocols
5. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and efficiently
6. Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift hroughout a shift

Preferred Qualificatio ns

1. Previous experience in a medical or healthcare environment
2. Familiarity with hospital-grade cleaning chemicals and equipment
3. Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Certifications (if any )

1. No formal certifications required
2. Infection Control or Environmental Services training is a plus
