About the Role:

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

• Provide mechanical engineering expertise for the design, construction, and commissioning of data center mechanical systems, including chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, air handling systems, and cooling distribution networks .
• Lead on-site technical reviews, resolve field issues, and ensure compliance with design specifications, safety codes, and standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, controls, and operations teams to optimize system performance and energy efficiency.
• Drive vendor coordination, equipment inspections, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) for mechanical systems.
• Support risk identification, mitigation planning, and escalation of critical issues during construction and operation phases.
• Ensure all work adheres to safety standards and industry regulations.

Qualifications – Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering .
• Hands-on experience in data center environments with a strong focus on chillers and air cooling systems .
• Demonstrated leadership, independence, and cross-collaboration abilities in high-pressure, mission-critical projects.
• Certification or training in OSHA 10, NFPA 70E/20E, and NAQE .

Preferred:

• Experience with mission-critical facilities or hyperscale data center projects.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE guidelines, building automation systems (BAS/BMS), and energy efficiency standards.

Location : Des Moines, IA

Salary Range: The salary for this position is between $146,000- $166,000 Annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
