We're Hiring: Medical Records Clerk!

We are seeking  detail-driven  Document Imaging Techs / Medical Records Clerks  to support a Corporate HIM Operations. You’ll retrieve charts, prep/scan/index documents into the EMR, perform QA, and help ensure timely, accurate, and compliant medical records—work that directly supports patient care and revenue integrity.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve,  prep, scan , and  QA  patient records per HIM Prep/Scan Guidelines.
• Index  documents to the correct patient/encounter ( CSN ), document type, and location; split/merge, append/insert pages per UMMS indexing rules.
• Identify poor-quality images and  rescan  as needed; verify orientation/legibility.
• Work assigned  electronic worklists  daily and process items on time.
• Death certificate  processing: validate completion/submission per state regs; coordinate with physicians and funeral homes as needed.
• Provide  Release of Information  coverage as assigned.
• Meet and report weekly  productivity  and  quality  standards; assist with training new staff.
• Communicate issues promptly to the Team Lead/leadership.

Requirements

• HS Diploma/GED .
• 1+ year  document imaging in a  high-volume hospital HIM  setting ( indexing experience required ).
• Proficient with  Microsoft Suite ; comfortable working in EMR imaging/indexing workflows.
• Ability to  walk ?40 minutes/day  and  carry up to 20 lbs .
• Strong accuracy, organization, and turnaround; clear, professional communication.
