Summary The Security Manager will serve as the on‑site leader of security operations for all Polaris Huntsville facilities, while also supporting enterprise‑wide Global Security initiatives. This position is responsible for leading incident response, complex investigations, workplace violence prevention, and the implementation of Polaris’ security standards and best practices. The Security Manager will be a collaborative partner, trusted advisor, and visible leader, building strong cross‑functional relationships with site leaders, Global Security, and external partners to ensure a safe and secure environment for employees, contractors, vendors, visitors, and company assets. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy Serve as the primary Global Security representative for Polaris Huntsville, ensuring alignment with corporate security standards and objectives. Partner with Global Security leadership to drive enterprise security strategies across the Huntsville facilities and beyond. Provide professional security consultation to site leadership, collaborating on risk assessments and treatments, investigations, and security initiatives. Conduct Site Security Risk Assessments, ensuring sites are aligned to Global Security standards and security objectives are achieved. Provide site leaders with a clear, strategic roadmap to close security gaps and continuously improve defense‑in‑depth countermeasures. Drive change in a complex matrixed organization by educating, influencing, and leading through collaboration. Promote an inclusive and respectful work environment by modeling Polaris values, treating all individuals with dignity and respect, and demonstrating emotional intelligence and ethical leadership. People Leadership Provide direct oversight of the Site Safety & Security Specialist, assigning tasks and priorities to ensure alignment with site and Global Security objectives. Coach, mentor, and develop the Safety & Security Specialist to build capability, strengthen performance, and foster professional growth. Ensure accountability by setting clear expectations, monitoring progress, and providing feedback. Leverage the Safety & Security Specialist to support incident response, report writing, security assessments, and other site‑level objectives. Operations & Incident Management Lead and oversee all contract guard force operations across Huntsville sites, ensuring staffing, training, and post orders are current and effective. Collaborate with the Contract Guard Force Site Manager to continuously update and improve guard post orders. Direct the response to security incidents, threats, or emergencies and ensure incidents are documented accurately in the Polaris Security Records Management System. Conduct and oversee investigations into theft, fraud, workplace violence, and other incidents impacting Polaris. Maintain close working relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Physical Security Systems & Standards Ensure Huntsville facilities maintain and enhance compliance with Polaris Global Security standards. Oversee access control, video surveillance, and related systems in coordination with the Global Physical Security Manager, ensuring all upgrades, integrations, and lifecycle planning align with Polaris’ corporate security strategy. Apply and advocate for Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles in facility security planning. Support the execution of corporate initiatives such as workplace violence prevention programs, risk assessments, and emergency preparedness. Culture & Communication Promote a strong security culture by engaging employees and site leaders in security awareness and best practices. Prepare and deliver briefings, reports, and presentations for senior leaders and executives. Demonstrate excellent written communication skills in incident reports, investigations, and standards documents. Exhibit elevated emotional intelligence in interactions, with strong skills in de‑escalation and conflict resolution. Work closely with Human Resources, Environmental Health, Safety & Security, Employee Relations, Legal, and Global Security to ensure coordinated responses and effective risk management. Qualifications Required Minimum of 10 years of law enforcement experience and 3‑5 years of progressive private‑sector security leadership, or a proven track record of equivalent leadership in security. Demonstrated expertise in complex investigations, investigative interviews, incident response, workplace violence prevention, Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management, site security risk assessments, remediation planning, and physical security systems and technology. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present to executive leadership. Strong leadership, collaboration, and partnership skills across diverse teams and functions. Results‑oriented leader able to deliver in a diverse, fast‑paced, and matrixed work environment. Proven experience aligning physical security systems with an enterprise‑wide security strategy to deliver fully integrated solutions that protect people, facilities, and assets. Education Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field preferred. A comparable combination of education, training, and substantial professional experience will be considered in lieu of an advanced degree. Preferred 15+ years of prior law enforcement experience. 5+ years of private sector security leadership. 10+ years of investigations experience. Professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, or CFE. Familiarity with ASIS International’s Protection of Assets standards and evidence‑based best practices. Experience managing contract guard services at a manufacturing or large‑site environment. Familiarity with Polaris’ security technology stack including Honeywell Pro‑Watch, Milestone, Ontic, AlertMedia, and LifeSafety systems. Familiarity with Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles. Proven ability to analyze complex problems and implement effective security solutions. Experience leading security projects or partnering with project managers to ensure objectives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to established milestones. Work Environment This role supports multiple Huntsville‑area sites, including a large‑scale manufacturing facility, distribution centers, warehouses, and office environments, requiring adaptability to diverse operational settings. Regular on‑site presence required. Occasional travel to support Global Security initiatives across Polaris’ footprint.
