Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Main PACU position requiring ICU experience and a DC RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in the Main PACU of a hospital setting
• Care for post-operative patients in a Level I trauma center environment
• Requires ICU-level care experience; PACU experience preferred, Preop experience a plus
• 3x12 hour day shifts with various start times between 0700 and 1130
• On-call is required
• Monitor post-operative patients' recovery and consciousness from anesthesia
• Obtain and document patient vital signs and observe for anesthesia side effects
• Treat pain, nausea, and other post-op symptoms, administering medications as prescribed
• Update EMR, patient files, and medical records accurately
• Educate patients and families on post-surgery care and answer their questions
• No local candidates within 25 miles of the facility will be accepted
• First-time travelers are accepted

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active DC RN license in hand
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in a U.S. hospital required
• Recent PACU and Preop experience required; not surgicenter experience
• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA only)
• CPI certification mandated by position
• CPAN, TNCC, and CCRN certifications are highly desirable
• Two professional references preferred, with at least one from the most recent employer
• US Social Security Number required for consideration
• Ability to think critically and work independently
